I began my journalism career in college, when I joined the staff of an independent Conservative campus newspaper funded by the Collegiate Network --the Reagan era brainchild of Irving Kristol and William Simon. Other neocons-posing-as-journalists spawned in the IEA/MCEA/ISI incubator include Tod Lindberg, John Podhoretz, Rich Lowry, Dinesh D'Souza, Jonathan Karl and Ann Coulter.
Most of my adoring readers believe I'm just a hip, cool security mom. The fools!
Made my professional debut at what is widely regarded as Southern California’s worst daily newspaper. Honed my writing skills and learned how using the word peril in tandem with Black, illegal, Mexican, and gangs, appealed to their aging, angry "white flight" subscribers. In fact, the word peril continues to be a tried and true friend I employ with great frequency to this day (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here for examples).
Toiled at the Seattle Times from 1996 to 1999. Wrote editorials supporting the repeal of the Emancipation Proclamation. Opposed the pathetic, liberal, loser editors on everything else. Followed my husband to his Conservative think-tank job in Lynchberg, Va.
My column now appears in nearly 200 "C" market newspapers all over the U.S. My first book, Profit: How a stay-at-home "Security Mom" capitalized on the pain and suffering of others (Wingnut Vanity Press, 2002), was a grocery store POS best-seller.
