Battening Down the Hatches
Here in our nation's capital, locals are prepping themselves for the invasion of the body snatched. As a public service, I'm working on a mondo post that'll explain the use of the subway system, what to do if you encounter Black folk, and how to exhibit kindness towards people who don't speak English but are responsible for all your creature comforts for the next 5-7 days. Urbanites with subway experience, etc. may leave their suggestions for instructions below.
In the meantime, check out Norbizness' coronation news.
In the D.C. subway system, if you actually want to stand on an escalator while it moves, stay to the right. It is an unwritten rule that the left side is reserved for those who walk.

I find that most people get that rule if you impress upon them that they are in the capital city of the last remaining superpower and that there are many important people doing important things on tight schedules.
Sadly, the people who need this information are probably not going to see it. They're also the people who shout at people who don't speak English.
