Is It Really a Hearing If Everyone's Turned a Deaf Ear?
Jessica will be liveblogging the Roberts' confirmation hearings over at Bush v. Choice. I hope she's got a signed permission slip from the Kossacks.
UPDATE: To answer Amando's question, I spent about 11 hours today earning my paycheck. Please forgive me. During my hour and fifteen minute trek home, I thought alot about the largely non-existent voices of stakeholders in the "democratizing" blogosphere.
It's a very depressing day. So many good people are working so hard to get the Dems to do the right thing and you just know they won't. I can't shake the feelign that this is a done deal. But I'll keep emailing and calling Specter.
Letters to editors calling for the WH to stop stonewalling and provide the necessary documents would be a good idea too. I read somewhere that Thomas told somebody that he didn't get controversial until October so there's time to make a difference.

Thanks for posting this link. I did not know Jessica was doing that. It's a great public service.

And Roxanne did what today?
Wow. And I thought DHinMI was a douchebag.

Yep. Actually, I'm watching hearing tapes now as I didn't have a chance to do it live. And I didn't want to just blog someone else's Rovesque talking points without watching the tapes.

shame on you. you should have taken some vacation time off to live blog the hearings yourself. lord knows no one else has been liveblogging it.

I'm assuming, Roxanne, that Amargo has no idea where you work. Because even he wouldn't have said something that stupid.... OK, you're right. Never mind.
There's no political splinter group more amusing in their pretentiousness than Rockefeller Republicans pretending to be McCarthy Democrats. The Enver Hoxha Marxists came close, but still.

Oh, I very rarely mix my biz with my not biz. Not kosher.

who was it that wrote that Kos has "no credibility on women's issues"?

Did someone mention straws?

Oh, for fuck's sake. Maybe Amando could check back to his pissy comments about giving NARAL a war because they didn't kiss the DP's ass? Maybe he could check back to Kos' comments about how choice isn't a core value of the DP?
It's not "important shit," to use their own words. And now that they've decided that Roberts is important, and therefore choice might sorta kinda be important(ish), they've developed amnesia.

eli: Were you thinking of this comment by Bald Peanut?

I haven't been watching the Roberts hearings, but I'm not surprised the Dems are rolling over and playing dead. I'm going to switch from Dem to Independent again. I've been an Independent for years, and switched only for the last election. Fuck that. If the Dems don't care about issues that are important to me, I don't want them sucking up to me at election time.
And when did we need a note from Daddy to write about what is important to us? Sorry, I don't accept homework assignments.

What, not trust the democrats to look after our best interests? Just because they are willing to sell women down the river if they think it will get them elected? Just because they are scape-goating the LGBT community for their own ineptness? Just because I’m doubly screwed by these policies? Frelling right I don’t trust them!
The Democrats are morally and intellectually bankrupt. There campaigns reduced to ‘We’re not as bad as the Republicans’. Well the plage is not as bad as Ebola but I would like to avoid both. That the Democrats are going to roll over on Roberts should surprise no one, the last time they showed any spine was thirty years ago with Nixon. I gave up on them when they caved to a brain dead actor. They are dead, let’s bury them and move on to something that might actually work,

Thad, your comment made me smile. I think it's a tie between Armando and DHinMI.
