Kurt Vonnegut's list includes:
Ye cannot serve God and Mammon. The hell I can't! Look at the Reverand Pat Robertson. And He is as happy as a pig in s**t.
Personally, I could go a whole lifetime without hearing the offkey caterwauling of "All we are saaaaaaaaaying ...is give peace a chance."
What's on your list?
"Hey Hey Ho Ho" -- that damn chant has got to go!

I hereby call for a moratorium on all chants that begin with "Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho" or "Two, Four, Six, Eight" or any other such count-offs.

Well "the people united can never be defeated" seems to be a fairly common pre-defeat refrain.

Nothing says "serious issues are being addressed here" like an oversized paper mache head.

free mumia.
the wearing of a floppy rainbow hat made of yarn is another liberal "statement" i could do without.

Liberal crap I never want to hear again: mocking of people who went to a demonstration by people who found excuses not to.
Posted by: Chris Clarke | 26 September 2005 at 12:08
Well it isn't liberal, but if I hear that stupid coke commercial song again about "I'd like to teach the world to chill," I don't think I would be responsible for my actions. I would see images of taking an AK up to the nearest clock tower and I would black out... and wake up in the throes of carnage. Please Coke, stop the madness now before someone gets hurt!!!

I must say that "Give Peace a Chance," like "We Shall Overcome" and the Internationale, is greatly improved by conversion to a Dixieland-jazz song played by a brass band. Such a band makes street demos much better for all involved; some things _are_ being done better now than 25 - 35 years ago.
I strongly support the idea that street marches and labor pickets should be fun. We're not doing penance out there.
What do I hate? The fact that I can't hear a California quail's rally call any more without hearing "The people. United...." etc. I'll get you for that someday, Clarke.

Someone smart once pointed out to me the difference between being serious and being solemn, and the certain kind of twit that thinks the two are the same thing.

You can use the lyrics we invented in San Diego in 1982, when Ben Sasway was locked up there for draft resistance: "A slogan! Exhausted! Should never be repeated!"

My favorite protest speech happened at the 1992 Republican National Convention protest area across from the Astrodome, during a NOW or NARAL rally. In addition to covering topics dealing with choice, one of the speakers went off on a tangent on things America should do: "We need to protect the environment, raise the minimum wage, and fight the homeless." I'm not kidding. I got so worked up I beat the crap out of a homeless guy that very night.

Man, Chris Clarke is owning this thread.

List of Liberal things that must go:
1. DLC
2. Democratic Party
That'd be a good start. And if people were chanting anything at all during the purge, I'd be okay with that.

fight the homeless
lol

I'm personally sick of "No justice, no peace". People were saying that here in Los Angeles on Saturday. It reminds me of what people were chanting after the Rodney King/LA riots in 1992.

I'm kinda partial to some DLC talking points. I just don't like the politicos that make up the DLC.

Kurt Vonnegut's a goddamn liar. He said he was never going to write another book again. And, yet, he wrote another book!
It's not about the books. It's about the lying!
Let the Swift Boating of Vonnegut begin!

I beat the crap out of a homeless guy that very night.
i do that every night. and all i needed to inspire me was bumfights.com
btw, whats up with the bride of chucky theme?
Gandhi didn't make up chants, btw. he got beat up and thrown in jail. a LOT.
too bad there's already a lot of brown people in jail for anyone to notice him.

I got pretty sick of ABB last year. Fat lot of good it did, too.

I never again want to hear a so-called liberal try to establish "credibility" on national security issues instead offering an actual alternative to militarism and imperialism.
And I could do with no more Sister Souljah moments, either.

I'm pretty tired of the idea that I have to be "Spiritually pure" to be a liberal. I'm not spiritually anything, but I still know it's wrong to screw the poor and kill people. I don't have to share your spiritually to share some of your goals.

Something I want to hear more of is the zombie protest chant:
What do we want?
BRAA-AA-AAA-AA-AAINS
When do we want it?
BRAA-AA-AAA-AA-AAINS
