1. Of all the books that you have eventually finished after many starts & stops, which one took you the longest and how long did it eventually take?
Right after 9/11, I started reading The Qur'an. Then I read The Upanishads. Then I re-read The Bible. The three of those took about two months.
After that, I took a stab at Dialogues of Buddha. For whatever reason, I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's because I was living in a Buddhist (sorta) country at the time. Maybe not. It took me 7-8 months to complete it.
By the way, I call this my Larry Darrell period.
2. What great band (or album or song) have you heard so often, you wouldn't mind never hearing again even though you still think the band (or album or song) is great?
I'm partial to Cake, love Fashion Nugget, but could go a whole lifetime without hearing The Distance ever again.
3. Which cliché or often cited quote needs to be placed in quarantine for a few decades?
Regular readers know that I"m keeping an ongoing list of these. If I wasn't so tickled by the wingnuts use of "Stuck on Stupid" (just who is stuck and who is stupid?), I might have chosen that cliché (with apologies to Michael).
No, I'm going to with Nobizness' choice from last May: "culture of life."
4. During the 1990s "Compassion Fatigue" received a lot of press, now the media is giddy with "Donation Fatigue". What will be the next trendy fatigue?
Well, I've had "Outrage Fatigue" on and off for the last five years or so. That's one thing "Mr. Moralist without portfolio" has been right about all along.
5. What percentage of respondents will answer "meme fatigue" to question #4?
Quite a few, I suspect. But, I hope it's not Kriston Capps, Michele Catalano, or Res Publica. Tag, you're it.
What if Cake were performing The Distance live? Would that be different?

1. Well, I never finished Gravity's Rainbow. Ever. Despite months/years of attempts. And, oddly enough, I picked up L.A. Confidential at an airport a few weeks back and I just can't make any headway through it.
2. David Gray. Wore out the first CD. Now it grates.
3. I'm already tired of "not so much."
4. I'm tired of fatigue.
5. Dunno.

Hey, it made me post twice. I had to type in the "code" letters, then it posted twice. I used to think I liked posting twice. Now, not so much.
