Our Core Values? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Core Values!
Via Chris, OurTenWords is looking for a ten-word slogan to define the Democratic Party's message. Maybe before they come up with their framing, they should come up with a plan to wrap the message around. Some plan. Any plan. Something.
"Low taxes, strong military, family values" isn't a platform or a plan, either, but it has served the Republicans fairly well. Unpacking that slogan, and figuring out why it works, what sort of person it appeals to, might point the way to combating it, even if a counter-slogan proves elusive.

Let's be like the Republicans, by all means.

Only in the sense of winning elections and enacting an agenda.
I came up with level playing field, respect for differences, strong, effective, responsive government,
the idea being that most people would find the slogan unobjectionable, but it raises hackles if you're a wingnut.

"What you do unto the least of these, you do unto me."
That should ensure "women's interests" are finally addresssed. (Unfortunately, 12 words.) (And biblical.)

No slogans yet, just random comments.
Words that suggest what Dems can do for voters which also distances themselves from the corruption, cronyism and incompetence of the Republicans, and which will be believed…
Maybe it is best to leave the wingnuts alone. They're a lost cause since most of em NEED to believe that their Republican leaders are on a mission from God and/or the Founding Fathers.
Only as a last resort should the Dems try to cut mutually profitable deals with the key power players in the corporate, media, and religious worlds while wearing the mask of salt-of-the-earth innocence and traditional American values for the non-players. Kidding.

We have no ideas. We enjoy Republican domination. We suck.

Tired of corruption, cronyism and incompetence? We’re the other guys.

Our core value is that we have none. Cool, huh? or: Yes, we have no core values, have no core values... today?!?! Damn... that's eleven

"We are the hangdog majority. Please be nice to us."

"What you do unto the least of these, you do unto me."
The best passage in the bible, and the only one on which I have ever needed to preach. (As a Quaker, I am occasionally called to preach, mainly to my kids.)
It would make a helluva platform.

"No Free Lunches- Just Good Government."
With words to spare.
