My Assimilation Into Suburban Monoculture is Almost Complete
This morning, on my weekly hike to the neighborhood farmer's market, I took a short detour to Michaels to buy paint and was accidentally sucked into "the rapidly growing pastime of lighted villages" vortex. There, I picked up the "Mama Cocina" porcelain doohickey shown above ...just because it was so damned cute I couldn't leave the store without it.
If I start scrap-booking, just fucking shoot me.

Aw, no, I hate to do this to you, but Michaels is owned by the Wylys.
AC Moore, on the other hand, is not.
It's also cheaper.

I don't think we have an AC Moore anywhere near here. I should've waited 'til Monday and gone to Utrecht.

No I'm sorry never mind 'scrapbooking' ( which sounds like some underground gay perversion like 'cottaging')
you've got grounds for immediate execution right there.
whilst i can understand the appeal of kitsch if not agree with it, for gods sake that's not even well done.
Next it'll be Lladro clowns and Swarski crystal animals

Then it's just a short step to wandering around town with a shopping cart full of plastic bottles buying cat food for pets you don't have.
You have my pity , please seek help

Actually, what it reminded me of was the day, back when I lived in San Francisco, that I stood at the corner of 16th Street and Potrero, the day after Rachel and I bought our first pair of cell phones, and thought: "Oh, there'll be a Jamba Juice there! Cool!" At that moment I had to relinquish all claim to being a radical, though it would at least be fivw years before I actually went to a Starbucks.

I tell you - scrapbooking is FUN!! I haven't had time to do it in over a year but I remember it fondly. It's like quilting with paper. Paper!
